Sunday Scaries
Sunday Scaries is a short film about a college student caught in the aftermath of a reckless night of drinking and frat life. After waking up hungover and realizing he’s lost his wallet, keys, and AirPods, John retraces his steps through fraternity events and party scenes, confronting accusations of theft and a disturbing prank involving a bloodied katana. By the end of his chaotic day, John reevaluates his choices and vows to distance himself from heavy drinking and the unpredictability of fraternity culture.
I produced this film with a team of other film students in the Communication department, Spring 2024.

Reform Proposal
In this project, I advocate for a more inclusive democracy rooted in participatory and deliberative models, where citizens are informed, engaged, and empowered. I propose reforms such as community-owned media and enhanced journalist training focused on diversity and inclusion. Reflecting on my own news habits, I’ve shifted toward local sources to better align with these values. This project helped me connect democratic theory with real-world action and clarified my role in promoting a more just and informed society.

Senior Reflection Essay
As a Disney kid growing up, Mulan and High School Musical first sparked my passion for filmmaking and digital media. At Santa Clara University, the Communication Department helped me turn that passion into purpose. Through qualitative and quantitative research, I explored identity, social media, and mental health, gaining tools to tell stories with empathy and intention. From producing films like The Test and Sunday Scaries to running SCU’s official social media accounts, I’ve learned the impact of thoughtful, community-driven content. Being someone who immerses themselves in both American and Chinese cultures, I now embrace my dual identity and use it to connect with others through storytelling. This journey has shaped not just who I am, but who I want to become.

The Test
The Test is a short film about a college soccer player from Texas, Lily, who discusses her future, relationships, and fears with her two friends while waiting for the results of a pregnancy test. I contributed to this project as a co-producer and the boom operator. The film was inspired by Roe v. Wade.
